What Time Does Wordle Reset? New Puzzle Times by Time Zone

Wordle resets at midnight in your own local time zone. There is no single global release time. A new puzzle appears on your phone or computer as soon as its clock passes 12:00 AM, wherever you are.

That means players in different countries start each puzzle hours apart. Someone in Sydney gets a new Wordle while it is still the previous morning in New York, and someone in Lahore starts five hours before London.

Everyone plays the same word on the same calendar date. The puzzle is tied to the date on your device, not to the moment New York changes over. So if it is 14 November where you are, you get the 14 November puzzle, even if it is still 13 November in the United States.

Two practical points follow from that:

  • You cannot get tomorrow’s puzzle early without changing your device date, and doing that can mess up your streak.
  • Friends abroad may already have today’s answer before you have played. If you share results in a group chat, the safest habit is to share only the colored squares, never the word.

When Wordle resets around the world

Your own puzzle always changes at your local midnight. What differs from place to place is how your midnight lines up with US Eastern time, which is the time zone many Wordle hint and answer pages follow, including ours.

The table shows winter times, from 1 November 2026 until US clocks change on 14 March 2027.

When clocks change in the US or in your country, the last column moves by an hour.

What this means for hints. Our hints for today’s Wordle switch to the next puzzle at 12:00 AM US Eastern time. If you live east of New York, your new puzzle arrives before the page updates, so in the early hours you may still see the previous day’s hints. The page always shows the puzzle number and date at the top, so check that it matches the number in your game. If you live west of New York, the page moves on a few hours before your midnight, so the hints you see late in the evening are for your next puzzle, not the one you are playing. If you missed a day, every past answer is listed in the Wordle answer archive.

Puzzle numbers, streaks and travel

Puzzle numbers follow the date. The first Wordle, #0, was played on 19 June 2021, and the number goes up by one every day. So every player on the same date sees the same number, wherever they are. If a hint page and your game show different numbers, one of you is on a different date, usually because of the time difference.

Streaks follow your local day. To keep a streak, finish a puzzle before your own midnight. Playing at 11:58 PM counts for that day. Wait two minutes and the next puzzle loads, and the one you skipped counts as a missed day.

Travel can bend your streak. Flying east shortens your day, so you may skip from one puzzle to the next sooner than expected. Flying west lengthens it, and you may see the same puzzle again after landing. Usually neither breaks a streak if you play each new puzzle before your local midnight, but crossing the International Date Line can skip a whole date, and that day counts as missed. If you play on several devices, log in to the same account on each so your streak and stats stay in one place.

Practise without waiting for midnight. If one puzzle a day is not enough, our free Wordle practice game gives you a fresh word whenever you like, and the multi-board versions, Quordle and Octordle, are good training for spotting letter patterns quickly. Wordle reset FAQs

What time does the new Wordle come out?

At 12:00 AM in your local time zone. In New York that is midnight Eastern time, in London it is midnight UK time, and in Lahore it is midnight Pakistan time.

Is Wordle the same word for everyone?

Yes, for everyone on the same calendar date. Players in different time zones reach that date at different moments, so someone in Asia or Australia can finish a puzzle before players in the Americas have even started it.

Can I play tomorrow’s Wordle today?

Not in the normal game. The next puzzle only loads after your local midnight. Changing your device clock to jump ahead can confuse your streak and stats, so it is not worth it.

Why does a hint page show a different puzzle number from my game?

Many hint pages, including ours, change over at midnight US Eastern time. If you live east of New York, your game moves on first; if you live west, the hint page moves on first. Match the number at the top of the page with the number in your game before reading any hints.

What time do Try Hard Wordle’s hints update?

At 12:00 AM US Eastern time every day. That is 5:00 AM in London, 10:00 AM in Pakistan and 4:00 PM in Sydney during the winter months.
