This is a free unlimited version of Octordle. Every guess you type is applied to all eight boards at the same time, and you have thirteen guesses to solve all eight five letter words. Start a new round whenever you want.
Type any real five letter word and press Enter. That single guess is scored on all eight boards at once, so one word gives you eight separate sets of clues. A green tile means the letter is in that word and in the right place. A yellow tile means the letter is in that word but somewhere else. A grey tile means the letter is not in that word at all.
Because the boards are independent, the same letter can be green on one board, yellow on another and grey on a third. The shared keyboard shows the best result that letter has achieved anywhere, so treat it as a summary rather than the full picture. When you solve a board it locks and dims so you can stop thinking about it.
You have thirteen guesses for all eight words. Guesses that are not in the word list are rejected and do not cost you a turn.
Thirteen guesses for eight words sounds tight until you notice that every guess works eight times over. A single word like CRANE tests five letters against eight different targets, which is forty letter checks from one turn. That is why Octordle is less about luck than it looks.
The maths favours spending your first three turns on coverage rather than on solving. Three well chosen words use fifteen of your twenty six letters and leave you with ten guesses for eight boards. In practice most boards resolve themselves once you have seen enough of the alphabet, because five letter words are heavily constrained by their vowels and by common endings.
The mistake that loses rounds is solving boards early. Every turn you spend confirming a board you already know costs you a turn on the seven you do not.
These three words cover fifteen distinct letters, including every vowel, with no repeats between them.
Play all three before you try to solve anything. After turn three you will usually have four or five boards with enough colour to finish in one guess each, and ten guesses left to do it.
| Game | Boards | Guesses | Spare guesses per board |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wordle | 1 | 6 | 5.0 |
| Dordle | 2 | 7 | 2.5 |
| Quordle | 4 | 9 | 1.3 |
| Octordle | 8 | 13 | 0.6 |
The last column is the useful one. It is the guesses you have beyond one per board. Wordle gives you five spare guesses for a single word, which is generous. Octordle gives you five spare guesses spread across eight words, which is why coverage openings matter so much more here.
If eight boards is too many to hold in your head, try the four board Quordle first, or go back to the single board Wordle practice game. If a word will not come to you on any of them, the Try Hard Wordle Solver will narrow the list from the letters you already have.
No. This is an independent unlimited practice version, built so you can play as many rounds as you like. It is not affiliated with the official Octordle, with the New York Times, or with any guide site.
Thirteen guesses for all eight boards. Every guess is applied to all eight at once. A guess that is not in the word list is rejected and does not use up a turn.
Yes, as many times as you want. There is no daily puzzle and no waiting. Each round picks eight fresh words at random, so no two rounds are the same.
Yes. The eight boards sit two across and the keyboard stays fixed at the bottom of the screen as you scroll, so you can play one handed on a phone.
